Rockefeller Center represents a turning point in the history of architectural sculpture; it is among the last major building projects in the United States to incorporate a program of integrated public art. Famous pieces include the “Statue of Atlas” by sculptor Lee Lawrie (above the main entrance of the RCA building); “Prometheus” by Paul Manship (in the plaza at the front of 30 Rockefeller Plaza); “News” by Isamu Noguchi (over the main entrance to 50 Rockefeller Plaza); “American Progress” and “Time” by Josep Maria Sert (at the Grand Lobby of 30 Rock). While there, drop in St. Patrick’s Cathedral across the street.
