Built across the mouth of the Marina Channel, the Marina Barrage creates Singapore’s 15th reservoir, and the first in the heart of the city. Elevated three floors up on the roof of a pump house next to the reservoir, a broad green lawn provides locals a recreational spot for picnicking and flying kites. From the lawn, one can the sea on one side, and the fresh-water reservoir backed by the most expensive real estate in Singapore in the background.
