El Junco is a lake in the crater of a dormant volcano. It’s about 19 kilometers away from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno town center. Visiting El Junco is free, however, the commute there isn’t. There are hired bus or car that go there but the cheapo way is to bike it. Make sure you’re in a good shape and the weather is nice. It takes a few hours to bike uphill through the village of El Progreso. Good news is, you’ll get to bike downhill on your way back! For bike rental, visit Planet Bike in town (about $10/day).
