The Massachusetts Historical Society is the oldest historical society in the United States and also a National Historic Landmark. Its aim is to serve as a major historical archive specializing in early American, Massachusetts, and New England history. The Society holds many important artifacts such as the Adams Family Papers, papers and architectural drawings of Thomas Jefferson, John Winthrop’s manuscripts on the early settlement of New England, and many more.  On Saturdays between 10am – 11:30am, visitors are able to join a free tour of the history and collection so the Massachusetts Historical Society. Numerous seminars are also offered for free on other days. Check the official website for schedule.
