Built in 1616, Monte Fort is the oldest fort in Macau. It was originally built as a defense for St. Paul’s Church from the pirates. It was later transformed into a military fort. It now houses Macau Meteorogical Bureau as well as Macau Museum (not free). However, for you broke tourists, since the fort complex is perched up on a hill, it offers a charming paranomic view of Macau.
