Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens sit on what was then the first farmland on the Australian continent. The farm failed and the endeavor to build the area into a botanic garden started in the early 19th century. The area is home to a colony of over 22,000 Grey-headed Flying Foxes (megabats native to Australia). There’s also a free guided walks inside the garden daily at 10:30am. Walks depart form the Information Counter at the Palm Grove Centre.
