Andrei Sakharov was a Russian nuclear physicist and a human rights activist. He was an advocate of civil liberties and reforms in the Soviet Union. In 1975, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The Andrei Sakharov Museum was established to continue his legacy on peace among mankind. Through the permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as the library, the museum collection are dedicated to three main issues: Russia’s totalitarian past, her current condition of freedom, and the life and activities of Andrei Sakharov.
