Free: All time
For a unique day trip around Chiang Mai, consider pay a visit to Bua Tong (Sticky) Waterfall. Bua Tong is a one of a kind horsetail falls that flows through porous limestones. This makes the water highly concentrated in calcium carbonate giving it a sticky feel. While walking up or down the fall may look slippery and treacherous, it is not! You get plenty of traction. Getting to the top of the waterfall, you’ll also be treated to a rewarding view of the treetops and mountains. Other pluses to visiting Bua Tong are that there’s no entry fee and there’s hardly any tourists.
