Similar to the guard changing routine at the Buckingham Palace in London, guards at the Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen also carry out similar custom. The changing of the guard takes place every day at noon no matter what the weather may be. The guard march from Rosenborg Castle at 11:30am daily through the streets of Copenhagen and execute the routine in front of Amalienborg at noon. When the event is accompanied by music, it means that the Queen or other royal family members are at the Palace. On special days such as the Queen’s birthday (April 16th) and other important annual events, the guards will wear different uniform for special occasions.
