Free: All time
When the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, the stretch of 1.3km of the wall along Muhlenstrasse was spared. It became the East Side Gallery – an open air gallery with murals painted by 118 artists from 21 countries in the world. The artists, through their murals, commented on the political events that took place during that era. These original murals are still there today, albeit most of them are in badly weathered conditions. A third of the works had been restored in 2009. The East Side Gallery is today an international memorial of freedom.
