Like the Moganshan Art District, the Hongfang (Red Town) Creative Industrial Zone are housed in a cluster of renovated factory buildings. Created in 2005, the compound houses galleries showcasing work by Chinese and foreign contemporary artists. Entry to these galleries are free. Perhaps the most popular site here is the Shanghai Sculpture Space. Its spacious interior is an interesting juxtapose of a chic loft apartment sprinkled with other-worldly whimsical larger-than-life sculptures.
