After the WWII and during the Cold War era, the area of Potsdamer Platz was a desolate land since it was situated right in the no-man’s land by the Berlin Wall. It wasn’t until 1995 that it has become the site of major redevelopment projects. Today, you will find bold modern architecture in this cosmopolitan center in Berlin. Here, you’ll find shopping malls, movie theaters, restaurants and one of the most popular Christmas markets near the end of the year. Perhaps the most iconic landmark in Potsdamer Platz is the Sony Center, with its stunning architectural design that’s modelled after Mount Fuji. Visit the site in the evening, and you’ll be treated to its impressive lighting grandeur.
