For the most beautiful view over the Douro river and Porto downtown don’t miss Serra do Pilar (i recommend to go there in the sunset)! Serra do Pilar is located in Gaia, just across the São Luís Bridge. If you are coming from Porto, i recommend you to cross the bridge (the second level) by foot to start enjoying one of the most wonderful views of Porto. There you also can find the Serra do Pilar Monastery, classified as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO (the entrance for the monastery is not free).
